public space no. 11, Zuiderbad - the oldest swimming pool

>three years ago i bought a mysterious object at the freemarket on queensday, for 25 cents. just roaming through all the rubbish, my eye fellon a short wooden stick, encased in a metal box which has a square openingat the top (or is it the bottom?). it looked lonely there, so i took it home. there it has been these last years. i often wonder what its function was and i have made a habbit of asking visitors what they think it might be. answers vary enormously. a piece in a medieval british game for instance, the rear end of a stamp, or a utensil for angry housewives and many more. by now i am not so much interested anymore in what it might be, but in the fantasies of my friends.
